Changing My Major (Undergraduate): A Guide to the Intercollegiate Transfer (ICT) Process
Information for Fall Incoming Students
We understand that some newly admitted students may be interested in a major other than that to which they were admitted for a variety of reasons, which is why our campus encourages all students, prospective and current, to stay in contact with their college offices. Your college office is here to help you navigate requirements for your current major and to learn about the requirements and processes should you wish to change your major. The general campus rule is that newly admitted freshmen are to remain enrolled in the major to which you were admitted for at least two semesters, but if you are considering a change in your program of study, this website is an excellent resource to familiarize yourself with the U of I Colleges’ and Departments’ requirements. This information on this site should be used in consultation with your college office and should be referenced frequently as requirements may change.
