When you apply to this major, you’ll apply directly into one of three concentrations. Note that requirements and recommendations may differ depending on your chosen concentration. Please contact the Academic Advisor for the concentration of interest listed below to discuss recommended courses.

Requirements

  • Students with a minimum overall and Illinois GPA of 2.5 or higher will be competitive for admission. GPAs lower than 2.5 will be considered if the student demonstrates strong grades in other social science courses.
  • Completion of the Composition I general education requirement, ALEC 110, ALEC 115 or equivalent, and other courses related to the specific concentration at the time of application are recommended, but not required
  • Intercollege transfer must be approved by the Academic Advisor for the respective concentration. Students should use the contact information below to schedule a meeting with the Academic Advisor for the concentration of interest to discuss prospects for transfer.
