Requirements

Policies and Procedures for students considering a transfer into Kinesiology:

  • First-year students are required to spend two semesters in the academic program to which they were admitted before changing majors. Transfer students admitted to University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign must spend one semester in the academic program to which they were admitted before changing majors.
  • A 2.8/4.0 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign GPA is required. Effective for fall 2026 admission, a 3.0 University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign GPA will be required. Prospective students are encouraged to explore HK 111 and HK 154.
  • Leadership, volunteer, or professional experiences which relate to the major are strongly considered when reviewing applications.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to complete their non-primary language requirement (at least three years in high school or the equivalent of three college semesters of the same language).
  • The College of Applied Health Sciences Intercollegiate Transfer Application requires a personal statement of 500 words or less outlining your interest in the Kinesiology major, your career goals, and any experiences you’ve had that relate to the major or your career goals.
  • Students interested in the Physical Education Teacher Education program are encouraged to work closely with Kinesiology Advising regarding their plans for transfer and course selection.

Policies and Procedures for students considering a transfer into the Dance & Kinesiology Dual Degree program:

Dance & Kinesiology Dual Degrees Intercollegiate Transfer Process
This joint dual degrees program operates unlike any other dual degrees at Illinois. Students will earn a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. The primary college of residence for all years is FAA (College of Fine and Applied Arts). The program requirements and sample sequence can be found in the Course Catalog.
