College of Fine and Applied Arts
Requirements
- Minimum GPA of 2.00 (Illinois and cumulative).
- Completed introductory coursework in Rhetoric (RHET 105); Microeconomics (Econ 102) or Agricultural Consumer and Resource Economics (ACE 100); Sociology, (SOC 100 or one of the following alternate courses: AAS 100, AFRO 100, GEOG 101, GEOG 104, or LLS 100); and Statistics (UP 116 preferred, STAT 100 accepted) is required. If GPA is 3.50+ the student may be recommended for transfer without some courses. Applicants entering sophomore year may also be given flexibility.
- Brief application with personal statement (approximately 500 words) summarizing why you are interested in urban studies and planning.
- The transfer application can found on the Urban Studies and Planning website.
Application Periods
Fall Term
- Applications accepted December 1 to March 15 for the Fall 2026 admission cycle
- Applications accepted December 1 to March 1 for the Fall 2027 admission cycle and beyond
Spring Term
- Applications accepted August 1 to October 1 for the Spring 2027 admission cycle and beyond
Admissions Timeline
- Decisions will be provided two weeks after the application deadline for the Fall 2026 admission cycle
- Decisions will be provided four weeks after the application deadline for the Spring 2027 admission cycle and beyond
